Odisha Capital City Bhubaneswar Ranked Second In Ease Of Living Index 2020

The Smart City of Bhubaneswar has been ranked in the second position in the Ease of Living Index (EoLI) 2020 which was announced by Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of State (Independent Charge), Housing, and Urban Affairs. 

According to the report, the final rankings of the Ease of Living Index (EoLI) 2020 and the Municipal Performance Index (MPI) 2020 were released by Hardeep Singh Puri, Minister of State (Independent Charge), Housing and Urban Affairs in an online event.

 In the ranking, Bhubaneswar has ranked in the second position among the cities which have less than a million population. With a total score of 59.85, the Smart City of Bhubaneswar has been placed in the second position, followed with a total score of 60.90 points; Shimla secured the top position and Silvassa with 58.43 in the third spot.

The report further stated that the rankings which are under Ease of Living Index 2020 (EoLI) which is an evaluation tool that estimates the quality of life and the impact of various actions for urban development were announced for cities with a population of more than a million, and cities with less than a million people. This provides a complete understanding of participating cities across India based on the quality of life, economic-ability of a city, and its sustainability and resilience. Around 111 cities participated in the assessment exercise that was conducted in 2020.

The Municipal Performance Index (MPI) was launched as an attachment to the Ease of Living Index which encouraged to examine local government practice in municipalities across areas of services, finance, policy, technology, and governance.
