Odisha Chief Minister Rolls Out 18 Highway Patrolling Units

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik rolled out around eighteen patrolling units for 18 stretches of several state and national highways across Odisha through video conferencing.

 While launching CM Patnaik stated that these units will play a crucial role in saving lives of accident victims on highways and the Odisha Government has a target of creating 36 patrolling units in various accident-prone stretches.  CM also stated that the government is concern about the state over the road accident-related deaths on highways and many valuables lives are lost every year on Odisha for this reason.

As per the reports, the functioning and experience of these eighteen units in the first phase will guide the state government for further action and initiatives for the future. CM stated that the Odisha Government is assigned to defeating such deaths and is taking up several steps to contain these incidents in the highway. He had asked officials to start more sensitisation initiatives for drivers on various road safety mechanisms and laws.

While talking about the Highway patrolling CM said that the timing for taking an accident victim from a point of the accident to the nearest hospital is crucial in saving lives. So this system will help to reduce the time for taking a victim from the accident spot to the nearest hospital. The quicker the injured person is taken to the nearest hospital the more is the chances of survival. He also said that these Patrolling units will be highly useful in these circumstances by carrying the accident victims as quickly as possible

The State Government has a target of generating 36 Patrolling Units in various accident-prone stretches and the functioning and experience of these 18 Units in the first phase will guide further action and future initiatives.
