Birmaharajpur in the Sonepur district would also receive NAC status, according to Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who made the announcement one day after announcing the formation of 324 new notified area councils (NAC).
According to an official statement, Birmaharajpur’s entry on the list has increased the number of newly constituted NACs in the state to 35. Currently, Birmaharajpur is a sub-divisional headquarters located in the western Odisha district of Sonepur. The creation of 34 new notified area councils in 20 districts and the promotion of five current NACs to municipalities were also announced by the CM on Saturday.
The administration claimed in a statement that the state’s socioeconomic progress, growing population, and popular demand were the reasons behind the creation of the new municipalities and NACs. According to official sources, Kantabanji in Bolangir, Boudhgarh in Boudh district, Karanjia in Mayurbhanj, and Chatrapur and Aska in Ganjam are the five NACs that have been upgraded into municipalities.
