According to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, developing a robust economy requires giving credit to Mission Shakti Groups, MSME, and agriculture. As he presented Champion Banks with cash awards for lending to these vital industries, he made this statement. A ceremony to honor the top-performing banks in lending to the core sector was held at the Loka Seva Bhawan Convention Center.
Speaking on the occasion, the CM said, “I attach utmost priority to the three fundamental pillars of our economy- Agriculture, MSMEs and Mission Shakti Groups. Budgetary provisions for these sectors have been substantially increased and we are also providing Interest Subvention to reduce the interest burden on the people.”
He went on to say that in order to establish a solid economic base, there must be sufficient credit available to key industries like agriculture, allied sectors, MSMEs, and women’s self-help groups. The Chief Minister emphasized the value of women’s self-help groups and mentioned that the State’s Mission Shakti Groups have made a significant contribution to the development of the rural economy. They are receiving interest-free loans from the government up to a maximum of Rs 5 lakh. They can promote their goods and grow their company thanks to the Mission Shakti Scooter Yojana. Bankers must support our efforts in order to assist them in becoming SMEs.
He called on all banks to support this admirable initiative. He congratulated all of the award-winning banks and expressed the hope that they would serve as models for other banks looking to improve loan distribution to these high-priority industries.
He disclosed that the State had set an ambitious target of Rs 1.60 lakh crore for the Annual Credit Plan for the current fiscal year. He conveyed his confidence that every district and bank will collaborate closely to meet the ACP target and realize the expectations of my state’s citizens. Declaring that in the Financial Year 2022–2023 Odisha achieved a first for itself by hitting the 100 percent target under the Annual Credit Plan of Rs 1,35,000 crore, he urged the banks to keep up this.
