A married couple identified as Bisikesan Sahu and wife Mama Sahu was found dead in their house at Kankadapal village under Sadar police limits of Dhenkanal district on Friday.
According to the reports, it was suspected to be a case of suicide pact. The couple had been married for 15 years and were survived by a 14-year-old son.
The bodies of the couple were found in an abandoned room on the roof of their house. Circumstantial evidence suggests that the pair consumed poison before hanging themselves from the ceiling of the house. ‘We have consumed poison’ was scribbled on the floor of the room.
It was suspected that the couple took the drastic step after failing to repay the loan they had availed. Sadar police have reached the village and launched an investigation into the case.
