The Orissa High Court allowed the use of green crackers which are certified by the Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation (PESO) on Diwali. Now the All-Odisha Firecrackers Dealers Association urged the State government to open a single-window system to grant a licence for the sale of such crackers in a hassle-free manner.
According to the reports, Trilochan Patnaik, the Association president stated that the licence distribution system needs to be simplified to benefit the traders. They have requested the government to make arrangements for issuing licences and other approvals to the retailers at the local police stations so that they would not need to run from one place to another to obtain permission.
He further added that all the authorised manufacturers are making PESO certified ‘green crackers but locally manufactured crackers need to be regulated by the State government to check the sale of regular crackers. Some traders stated that most of the products which are available in the market before Diwali will be old stock and it is not possible for them to place orders for fresh stock.
