The Union government has accepted Odisha’s plans under the Special Central Assistance (SCA) for the implementation of AgriStack, the national Digital Public Infrastructure program for agriculture, marking a major turning point in the state’s digital agricultural journey. Odisha is now eligible for incentives of Rs 155.48 crore with this clearance, which includes Rs 100 crore for the successful execution of the Digital Crop Survey and Rs 55.48 crore for reaching the first milestone of the Farmers’ Registry.
According to officials, this accolade strengthens Odisha’s position as a leader in implementing data-driven, farmer-centric digital reforms by highlighting the state’s strong adherence to national standards, timely accomplishment of coverage milestones, and efficient large-scale implementation. In order to accurately identify beneficiaries for important programs like PM-KISAN, CM Kisan, and crop insurance, the Farmers’ Registry creates an authorized and validated database of farmers.
In contrast, the state can create accurate estimates of cultivated area and productivity, enhance procurement planning, and guarantee targeted implementation of agricultural schemes thanks to the Digital Crop Survey’s geo-referenced, plot-wise data on crops sown. The two elements work together to answer important questions about the farmer’s identity, the location of the property, and the type of crop that is farmed, providing the framework for an open and effective program.
