Odisha Governor Releases ‘Turn Around India 2020 – Surmounting Past Legacy’

Odisha Governor Professor Ganeshi Lal launched the book” TURN AROUND INDIA-2020” which depicts a realistic and possible option for strengthening the Indian economy for generating new jobs and expanding public income and the structural reforms such as fiscal and monetary stimuli for overcoming economic crisis arising due to pandemic as India has become the fastest-growing major economy in the world.

 Dr. Surjya Narayan Patro, Speaker, Odisha Vidhan Sabha, along with legislators, bureaucrats, and corporates at were present in the event which was held at Governor House (Raj Bhawan, Bhubaneshwar).

Hon’ble Sri Ganeshilal, Hon’ble Governor of Odisha congratulated Mr. Gupta on the launch of the book on the Indian Economy. He stated that India can achieve double-digit growth as it has a high savings rate and a huge young population and the economy needs to be returned. He further said that he will let decide the audience regarding the feedback of the book but highly praised the logical writing of the book.

Mr. Gupta also spoke during the occasion – “India is already on a reformed mode;” But it requires an aggressive push by surmounting the past legacy of Colonial laws and the Soviet Union model of the economy, which was adopted post-independence.” He suggested that by pushing the investment rate to about 38-40% of GDP through regulatory easements and boosting exports @15-20% every year by reducing the cost of basic inputs such as Capital, Energy, Logistics, Minerals, and labor.

He also recommends fiscal expansion for boosting infrastructure within states. He also stated that there will be a quick result if more emphasis will be given to mineral-based industries besides the tourism, health, and education sector.
