Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday approved the increase in the stipend amount for nursing, pharmacy, and allied medical students, taking into consideration their request and the value of the services they provide.
After this enhancement, these students will receive the following amount as stipends per month:
- Pharma – Rs 500
- ANM – Rs 2,000
- Sc (N) – Rs 5,000 for internship
- Phil in Clinical Psychology – Rs.10,000
- Phil in Psychatric Social Work- Rs.10,000
The previous stipend amounts for these students were as follows: Rs 2,500 for the B.Sc(N) internship, Rs 1,000 for the D.Pharma, Rs 7,000 for the M. Phil in Clinical Psychology, and Rs 7,000 for the M. Phil in Psychiatric Social Work. It is anticipated by the Chief Minister that this improvement will motivate students to provide better services to the public. He hoped that this would further strengthen Odisha’s health services.
The students asked 5T and Nabin Odisha Chairman VK Pandian to increase their stipend during their recent visit to MKCG Medical College and Hospital. It should be noted that the Health & FW Department of the Government of Odisha offers a variety of degree and diploma programs in government institutions, including the B.Sc. in Nursing, the Auxiliary Nursing & Midwifery (ANM) course, the Diploma in Pharmacy, the M.Phil. in Clinical Psychology, and the MPhil. in Psychiatric Social Work. Students enrolled in these courses receive stipends from the government for the time that they are enrolled in classes and working as clinical assistants in hospitals.
