With the assistance of Odisha Mining Corporation, the State government has given the Similipal Tiger Reserve Foundation 14 No. 4 WD Bolero Campers. The Bolero Campers have been adapted to fit the working conditions found in similar forests and effectively perform their protective duties under all circumstances. Frontline staff will be able to move around on the muddy dirt roads and steep ghat roads during the monsoon season thanks to the four-wheel drive.
The cars have been painted olive green to blend in with the forest and deter poachers; they also have winches installed, which will be useful for rescue operations, particularly in the monsoon; a remote-controlled, movable search light installed over the cars to see all directions at night; and seats and a hood installed in the back to accommodate the most frontline staff members while providing protection.
The vehicles will be stationed in areas of high risk, particularly in the central region, to serve as protection vehicles for the Joint Task Force (JTF), the Special Tiger Protection Force (STPF), and other frontline personnel.
