Bhubaneswar: On a trial basis, the Odisha government will provide ‘Osteopathy’ treatment, a non-surgical, non-invasive stream of manual medicine, in 10 PHCs/CHCs across the state.

 

Osteopathy is a 150-year-old science that is more prevalent in the United States, Europe, and Latin America. Sri Sri University is the country’s first institution to provide education in this field.

 

Osteopathy treatment will be provided for six months in Cuttack district at CHC Berhampur, PHC Gurudijhatia, Bidyadharpur (Sandhapur) UPHC, UCHC CDA Bidanasi; Khordha district at PHC (N) Pahal, PHC (N) Chandaka, UCHC Patia, and Capital Hospital Bhubaneswar; and Jharsuguda district at CHC Kirmira By today, the Health and Family Welfare Department had written a letter to the CDM&PHOs of Cuttack, Khordha, and Jharsuguda.

 

The CDM&PHOs have been asked in the letter to instruct the Medical Officer in-charge concerned to provide necessary support to the interns and faculty members of Sri Sri University Cuttack based on the existing infrastructure available in the allotted CHCs / PHCs for the smooth operation of the Osteopathy internship programme.
