The Odisha government has recently started a number of transformative measures in an effort to streamline urban planning services in the State under the 5T framework. The most recent is an institutional reform meant to strengthen the capabilities of the Development Authorities. With the exception of Bhubaneswar, all Municipal Corporations now have Commissioners serving as Vice-Chairpersons. This move will strengthen the Development Authorities by bringing decision-making closer to local senior functionaries and expediting the timely delivery of town planning services to the public.
Through resource optimization, the Municipal Corporations and Planning Authorities’ alignment will increase the institutions’ efficacy. The government’s H&UD Department has sent out notifications regarding the Rourkela Development Authority and the Sambalpur Development Authority today. The government has already switched to SUJOG, a cutting-edge and contemporary online platform, to provide hassle-free municipal services, such as building plan approval. It is anticipated that these progressive initiatives will improve service quality and bring urban governance closer to the people.
