Odisha Plans NITI Aayog-Style Revamp Of State Planning Board

To improve the State Planning Board’s capacity for strategic planning and decision-making, the Odisha government plans to reorganize it in accordance with the NITI Aayog model. In response to a query by BJP MLA Tankadhara Tripathy in the Odisha Assembly, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi provided this information. According to the Chief Minister, talks to restructure the board are already in progress with specialists. The Planning Board had only met twice in 24 years, in 2003 and 2007, he said, criticizing the previous BJD government for ignoring it.

Majhi underlined that in order to successfully handle the state’s developmental concerns, a dynamic and proactive Planning Board is desperately needed. The CM promised that measures will be taken to hold more frequent meetings, highlighting the BJP government’s commitment to making the board effective and efficient. “The NITI Aayog framework will be in line with the redesigned structure, guaranteeing improved planning capabilities and strategic interventions for the state,” he continued.

It is anticipated that the Planning Board’s reformation will strengthen Odisha’s ability to lead development projects, set priorities for resource distribution, and resolve regional inequities.
