Kendu Leaf Chintan Shibira 2026 was held at the Conference Hall on the sixth floor of Aranya Bhawan, Bhubaneswar, to discuss accomplishments, exchange ideas at the field level, and map out future plans for bolstering Kendu Leaf activities in Odisha. Bhaskar Jyoti Sarma, Principal Secretary of Odisha’s Department of Forests, Environment, and Climate Change, presided over the program. Sarma emphasized the enormous potential for creating new job opportunities in the state by introducing a number of initiatives in the future.

 

In order to improve the efficiency of Kendu Leaf operations and provide people who depend on forests with sustainable means of subsistence, he underlined the necessity of extensive training and skill development programs. During the ceremony, a video presentation highlighting the accomplishments and socioeconomic effect of Kendu Leaf activities in Odisha was screened. The presentation emphasized how Kendu Leaf activities significantly contribute to rural development, livelihood generation, and the welfare of Kendu Leaf recipients throughout the state. Field authorities, including the Assistant Conservator of Forests, Balangir (KL) Division, and Divisional Forest authorities of Boudh (KL), Bhawanipatna (KL), and Rourkela (KL) Divisions, held an experience-sharing workshop on novel techniques in Kendu Leaf operations.

 

In order to enhance the collecting, processing, and administration of Kendu Leaf operations, the officers discussed effective interventions, best practices, and creative strategies used in their various divisions. During the program, eighteen field staff members received recognized for their outstanding performance and extraordinary contribution. Dr. K. Murugesan, PCCF & HoFF, Odisha; Prem Kumar Jha, PCCF (Wildlife) & Chief Wildlife Warden, Odisha; and Smt. Uma Nanduri, PCCF (Kendu Leaf), were present at the ceremony. In their speeches, they urged field workers to focus on increasing the quantity and quality of Kendu Leaf production in order to achieve greatness during the forthcoming Kendu Leaf season.
