Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said before the Assembly that the Odisha government spent ₹115.95 crore on logistical preparations for the 2024 simultaneous Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.
The Chief Minister explained the costs in response to a question from Athagarh MLA Ranendra Pratap Swain, claiming that ₹80.93 crore was spent on renting cars for election-related purposes. To help with the election process, an additional ₹35 crore was set aside for tents, barriers, and sound equipment. The numbers demonstrate the substantial financial investment needed to hold last year’s elections throughout the state.
