Odisha To Build Rs 1,000 Crore Ultra-Modern Stadium In Bhubaneswar

Odisha will soon build a cutting-edge stadium in Bhubaneswar at a cost of Rs 1,000 crore, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said on Sunday. This project is a component of a broader plan for Rs 4,124 crore that would upgrade the state’s sports facilities in 14 blocks over the course of the following four years. It is anticipated that the ambitious project would strengthen Odisha’s standing as a major Indian sports hub.

Speaking at the World Athletics Continental Tour Bronze 2025 event held at Kalinga Stadium, CM Majhi expressed pride in the state’s rising stature in the sports arena.

“Today is a proud day for Odisha,” he said. “Having successfully hosted the Hockey World Cup twice, the government remains committed to improving the quality and accessibility of sports facilities for our athletes.”

At Kalinga Stadium, the Athletics Federation of India and the Sports & Youth Services Department collaborated to organize the World Athletics Continental Tour Bronze, which featured the skills of young athletes from more than 15 nations. The construction of top-notch stadiums in several blocks around Odisha is part of the larger Rs 4,124 crore plan, which aims to foster indigenous athletic potential and encourage excellence in sports across the state. In addition, CM Majhi emphasized that Odisha’s hosting of the World Athletics Continental Tour Bronze will open the door for the state to host the coveted Continental Tour Gold in the future, enhancing its standing in world athletics.
