Odisha To Host Hero Indian Women’s League 2020-21

Hero Indian Women’s League 2020-21 edition will be soon hosted by Odisha and the dates of the tournaments will be announced in the coming days.

The information was affirmed by the All India Football Federation (AIFF) who has always appreciated the Odisha Government’s well-established partnership with Indian Football.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik quoted on Twitter- “This will further cement the State’s position as a global sports hub & encourage our youth to embrace professional sports.”

The state government has always promoted Football and has been also providing ground and state of the art training equipment to the national teams across various age groups and genders. The Odisha government has also made all attempts to take Indian Football forward together and promote it across all the districts.

According to the report, Praful Patel, AIFF President stated that the Odisha Government has been a prominent supporter of Indian Football. He also thanked Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Mr. Vishal Kumar Dev, Mr. Vineel Krishna, and & the whole Sports Department of Odisha for continuing all the support & aid to organize the Hero Indian Women’s League.

He further stated that the tournament has contributed the platform for a lot of budding women footballers to show their talent and provide them the option of taking up football as a career.

Tushar Kanti Behera, Odisha Sports Minister also spoke on the occasion.  “Holistic development of sports in India and Indian football, in particular, is Odisha Sports’ vision. Odisha has been synonymous with women’s football in India for a long. I am an ardent supporter of women’s empowerment, and the hosting of the Indian Women’s League in Odisha allows us the opportunity to contribute to the development of women’s football in the country along with the All India Football Federation. Women sportspersons in India have been bringing huge laurels for the country and I am confident our women footballers will garner more glory soon,” he said.

Kushal Das AIFF General Secretary thanked the Odisha Government while stating that AIFF and Football Association of Odisha is committed to performing the best Hero IWL. The tournament will have an outstandingly higher number of matches and will also make a tremendous variation to the evolution of football among women in India.
