Odisha To Sponsor National Rugby Teams Till 2023

Odisha will sponsor the National Rugby teams for the coming next three years and expedite high-performance training and conditioning.  The Odisha Government and the Indian Rugby Union (IRFU) signed an agreement to sponsor Odisha till 2023.

In Tusharkanti Behera, State Sports Minister, the agreement was signed between R.Vineel, Odisha Sports Director, and Maneck Unwala, IRFU President at the Kalinga stadium. The sponsorship will be prolonged towards preparation, conditioning, and incentivizing the Indian national rugby teams (men and women) competing in international events. Sports Minister stated that the partnership is essential. In recent times, the popularity and participation have seen a consecutive rise, and young players’ intentness has risen due to the commendable efforts of Rubgy India. The partnership with Odisha Government will help to develop Rubgy not only in Odisha but in India also. It will also support and strengthen the high-performance training of Indian National Rugby teams. In several states, rugby is gaining popularity, and the association will fit the core objective for the promotion of the game. This initiative will nurture young talent and create a pathway from grassroots to elite and produce more players who can laurel to the whole nation.
