Odisha’s Efforts to Attract Global IT and Semiconductor Leaders Will Change The State’s Tech Scene Soon

Odisha is on track to become a global IT and Semiconductor hotspot, with numerous multinational IT and Semiconductor MNCs expressing interest in investing in the state. This was revealed at a meeting between the Government of Odisha team and top Silicon Valley industry executives from industries such as IT, semiconductor design and automation, venture capital, professional services, AI/ML, and 5G. Cadence Design Systems, Integreon, Celano.io, eFabless Corporation, and many more multinational corporations took part in these conversations. The team met with representatives from a variety of software service providers, including the prominent IT MNC Cognizant Technology Solutions (CTS). According to an official press release, the group met with Cognizant CEO Ravi Kumar and demonstrated the benefits of Odisha for a future footprint for Cognizant (CTS) in the state.

The team met with PR Patel, a former Intel executive and proponent of Global HDI PCB Manufacturing Inc. in the United States. The group briefed him on Odisha’s benefits, which ranged from natural assets to substantial incentives and an investment-friendly atmosphere.

Following extensive conversations, Patel stated his intention to establish an HDI-PCB manufacturing factory in the state with a total investment of around Rs 4,360 crore (530 million USD) over a 7-year period. This investment is expected to produce 3,500 employment, as well as ancillary advantages such as the reinforcement and development of a semiconductor ecosystem. HDI PCBs are a type of Printed Circuit Board (PCB) that provides more wire density per unit space than typical circuit boards and are especially beneficial in sophisticated, high-performance goods that require high-frequency signal transmission. Patel’s team will shortly travel to Odisha to investigate the site.
