The Odisha Handlooms and Handicrafts Development and Promotion Council (OHHDPC) held its third meeting in this location today. Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee, Principal Secretary, Handlooms, Textiles & Handicrafts (HTH) Department, attended the conference as a Special Invitee, while Dr. Sudarsan Sahoo served as the meeting’s chairman.
In the conference, numerous concerns of the State’s weavers and craftsmen were discussed. The survey of handicraft artisans and handloom weavers, the proper channeling of raw materials to the artisans and weavers, the revision of the State’s approved craft list, the modification of the capacity building training guidelines, and the introduction of a Government-sponsored Life Insurance Scheme for artisans and weavers are the main topics that were discussed.
The council’s recommendations on the aforementioned issues will be presented to the government for any appropriate follow-up action, it is agreed. Along with the OHHDPC members, the meeting was also attended by the directors of textiles and handlooms, Saroj Kumar Patel and Pranati Chhotaray. Member Secretary Bikramaditya Barik concluded by offering a vote of gratitude.
