To commemorate World Entrepreneurs Day, the Bhubaneswar City Knowledge Innovation Cluster (BCKIC) Foundation, an initiative of the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser (PSA) to the Government of India, collaborated with the FICCI FLO Bhubaneswar Chapter, a prestigious women’s business chamber, to present “Spark-O-thon.” This event, which celebrated the essence of innovation and entrepreneurship, was committed to cultivating the imaginative spirit in students, who represent the future generation of visionaries.
Under the auspices of BCKIC, over ten prominent institutions, including CIPET, BGU, KIIT, KIIT International School, KISS, Bose Polytechnique, DAV Public School, SAI International School, ODM Public School, and ODM Global School, celebrated World Entrepreneurship Day in an unprecedented manner. This collaborative endeavour intended to highlight entrepreneurship and to instill in kids an inventive mentality.
The event included inspiring motivating presentations from startup ecosystem mentors, an Idea Pitching Competition, and an interactive Entrepreneurship Quiz. With over 3000 attendance, the response from students was astounding, demonstrating the energy and ambition of the young brains. More than 150 participants pitched their unique ideas as aspiring entrepreneurs, demonstrating that businesses are no longer restricted to major cities.
The most interesting concepts will receive additional funding from BCKIC and FICCI FLO to develop prototypes at the KIIT Technology Business Incubator (KIIT TBI), one of India’s top incubators.
According to Dr. Mrutyunjay Suar, Chairman of BCKIC, the Spark-O-thon represents BCKIC’s commitment to leveraging collective potential for advancing science and technology. “By commemorating World Entrepreneurs Day, we hope to instill a passion for innovation in the next generation.” Dr. Namrata Misra, CEO of BCKIC, stated.
“Collaborating with BCKIC for ‘World Entrepreneurs’ Day’ was inspiring,” said Poonam Mohapatra, Chairperson of FLO Bhubaneswar. Our mission is to promote entrepreneurship and innovation at all levels. The active engagement of students and professors demonstrated our community’s entrepreneurial spirit.”
