The Academy on Tuesday unveiled its shortlists for the 2023 Oscars in ten categories, including documentary and international features, as well as documentary short subject, among others, heightening anticipation for the Oscars. International features from 92 countries are being considered, including RRR and The Last Film Show from India.
As well, the shortlist for Best Original Song has been revealed. 15 songs have been announced, including Rihanna’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Lift Me Up. Lady Gaga has also received a nomination for Top Gun: Maverick’s Hold My Hand. Taylor Swift’s Carolina from Where the Crawdads Sing has also been nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Song.
Indian films have been nominated for Oscars in 2023.
RRR, which has been one of India’s biggest films since 2022, has advanced for Oscar consideration in only one category for 2023. The song Naatu Naatu from SS Rajamouli’s RRR has been nominated for Best Original Song. In the International Feature Film Category, India’s Last Film Show has advanced and now competes against films like
