Padma Shri Prof Radhamohan Passes Away

Renowned social worker and retired professor in Economics Padma Shri Radhamohan passed away while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar at the age of 78.

According to the report, Radhamohan was admitted to the hospital following complaints in the respiratory system as he was suffering from bronchial asthma along with other co-morbidities.

The hospital authorities informed that he breathed his last at around 12 midnight.

Radhamohan and his daughter Sabarmatee duo were credited to have transformed a piece of wasteland into a fruit forest through organic farming technique. They had been enabling farmers across the country to take to sustainable organic farming. They were also conferred with the prestigious Padma Shri Award, the fourth highest civilian honour of the country, in 2020 for their contribution to the agriculture sector.

Odisha Government had also awarded him with Utkal Seva Samman for his outstanding social service. For his distinguished work for the environment, UNEP had conferred ‘The Global Roll of Honour’.

Odisha government had appointed him as State Information Commissioner and later he also served as a lecturer in different colleges in Odisha.

Radhamohan had also worked as a member of State Planning Board, Advisory Committee, State Watershed Mission, Task Force on Education, State Wildlife Advisory Committee, NSS Advisory Committee, Steering Committee on Joint Forest Management. He was also a member of the State Pollution Control Board.
