Paramita Satpathy Tripathy Assumes Role as Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Paramita Satpathy Tripathy, a distinguished Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer from the 1989 batch, officially took charge as the Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax for Odisha on Wednesday. She succeeds Manoranjan Panigrahy in this pivotal role.

With over three decades of experience in tax administration, Satpathy Tripathy has held various key positions within the Income Tax Department in Odisha. Notably, she served as the Director of Finance at the Odisha Power Generation Corporation Limited (OPGC) for six years.

In March 2025, she was among 34 IRS officers empanelled for the rank of Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, reflecting her exemplary service and leadership in the field.

Beyond her administrative acumen, Satpathy Tripathy is a celebrated literary figure. She received the Sahitya Akademi Award in 2016 for her short-story collection “Prapti,” published in 2012. Her literary contributions also earned her the Sarala Award in 2021. To date, she has authored seven short-story collections, with her works translated into multiple Indian languages, enriching the nation’s literary tapestry.

Upon assuming her new role, Satpathy Tripathy emphasized her commitment to enhancing taxpayer convenience and streamlining tax administration in the state.
