At the Indian Roads Congress’s Annual Session, which took place in Raipur on November 11, the director of the Central Roads Research Institute in New Delhi was chosen to serve as the organization’s president. In the previous 90 years of IRC history, Parida, a graduate of UCE Burla who is now known as VSSUT Burla, is the third Odia to occupy this esteemed role. The main professional association for highway engineers that deals with highway infrastructure, including bridges, tunnels, and roads, is called IRC.
Prior to joining CSIR-CRRI, he served as the Deputy Director of IIT Roorkee. From 2013 to 2017, he also served as the MoRTH Chair Professor at IIT Roorkee, where he taught on the development of the Indian highway system. Prof. Parida’s creative contribution is the design and development of a noise barrier for Delhi’s flyovers. Additionally, he played a key role in contributing significantly to the RSVY Project’s third-party quality audit of 1700 km of State Highway in the State of Bihar between 2007 and 2013.
Prof. Parida is an academician who has written over 450 papers in journals and conferences and supervised 35 Ph.D. theses. throughout 350 urban road infrastructure projects, intercity corridors, rural highways, and expressways have benefited from his consulting services throughout the course of his career. As CRRI’s Director, he was instrumental in the development of Steel Slag Road Technology, AI-based Road Safety Solutions for Nagpur (iRASTE), the Dwarka Expressway’s Third Party Quality Evaluation, the promotion of the use of industrial waste in road construction, and the provision of solutions for the development of road infrastructure in border regions.
The Indian Roads Congress presented Prof. Parida with the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Birth Centenary Award in 2004. Additionally, he was given the IIT Roorkee Outstanding Teacher Award. He now serves as the Convener of the Bureau of Indian Standards’ PCD6 (Bitumen, Tar & Other Products) Committee and the Convener of the Indian Roads Congress’s Urban Roads & Streets Committee (H-8) in New Delhi.
