Salman Khan-starrer Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai trailer hit the internet last week. The movie has been directed by Prabhu Deva and features some known names from Bollywood like Disha Patani, Randeep Hooda, Jackie Shroff, and Megha Akash in the lead roles. While the movie was scheduled to release in last year’s EID, the CO-VID pandemic delayed the release for almost a year. Being a Salman Bhai’s movie, the trailer was much anticipated among Bhai fans. However, Bollywood lovers had a skeptical mind giving the track record of trash Salman movies in the last few years. At last, the trailer arrived but with much disappointment yet again. It was like old wine in a new bottle. However, this time the wine was rotten with the trashy Salman Khan content.

Salman Khan is arguably the most expensive actor in the Bollywood industry today. His previous hits have augmented his social capital to unprecedented levels. However, today’s generation does not believe in the idea of cult personalities. You will be loved as long as you deliver quality content. Forget about quality content, by the looks of the trailer Radhe looks more of a spoof than a commercial Bollywood masala flick.

Thereby, Radhe’s trailer dropped and invited all forms of criticism. The story has a textbook Bollywood trajectory. There is a surge in the crime rate of Mumbai, and hence Radhe (supercop) comes to the rescue. Radhe has an incredibly colored profile with ninety-seven successful encounters. It is because of his profile that he is called an encounter specialist. While Radhe (Salman Khan) is still single, he woes Disha Patani (Diya) who is 28 years younger than him. Cringy right???? But where there is Bhai, there cannot be cringe. Everything is acceptable as per the loyal fans of Salman Bhai.
While Randeep Hooda plays the role of a villain, it is popular that this movie does not do justice to his potential. He has shown exemplary talent in action sequences through his previous work. After giving a mind-blowing performance in extraction while starring against Chris Hemsworth, Radhe is a significant step down from his standards.

The trailer is nothing but a compilation of all Salman’s previous action movies. The dialogues are repetitive, the action is very typical dabbang style (boring to be brutally honest), and the direction is nothing that the Indian audience hasn’t witnessed. The only surprise element that his fans could experience was Salman’s violation of his no kiss policy. Apart from this, it offers nothing more than a movie that appears to be a remake of kick, dabbang, and bodyguard combined. What’s more- you have the remake of Allu Arjun’s blockbuster song Seethi Maar. Just image a dance number of one of the best dancers of India is being copied by a person who is by far a below-average dancer. Pathetic!!!

It is to be noted that even Salman Khan has offered excellent films such as Bajrangi Bhaijaan and is capable of creating meaningful content. It is time that Bollywood realizes the change in the taste of their audience. Mere pomp and show clubbed with complete defiance for the laws of physics will not fetch them eyeballs anymore. The audience matures with time, and content creators need to be up to date with that maturity. The standards of Bollywood scripts from 10 years ago will not survive in today’s competitive market just because a movie stars Salman Khan. The storyline, creativity, and novel concepts are the need of the hour in this new age of Bollywood. Or else the day is not far when OTT platforms completely replace theatres as a source of multimedia entertainment. This perpetual approach to offer redundant content might upset his fans and compromise his position as Bollywood’s most approached star.
PS- I am ready to face the wrath of our beloved Salman Bhai’s Fan
