Renovation Work Of Ratna Bhandar To Resume From June 28

From June 28 to July 6, the Puri Jagannath Temple’s Ratna Bhandar and sanctum sanctorum refurbishment project is scheduled to resume. Repairing the outside of Ratna Bhandar will be the main priority now. Except for the flooring, the inside Ratna Bhandar remodeling project is nearly finished. The temple management has decided to finish the remaining tasks, including restoring cracked stones and installing stainless steel beams outside Ratna Bhandar. A total of 277 stones were changed, 148 of which were utilized in the inner Ratna Bhandar, and nine stainless steel beams were previously erected there.

The Chief Administrator of SJTA, Arabinda Padhee, presided over a meeting at the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration office when the decision to restart work was made. Superintendent Archaeologist N.C. Paul, a member of the technical core committee, and other authorities attended the meeting. It is important to note that the rehabilitation work in Ratna Bhandar was put on hold from April 29 to June 27 by the earlier ruling. It has now been determined, therefore, to use this time to finish the remaining projects in the outer Ratna Bhandar. Proposals to silver-plate the Ratna Bhandar’s outside doors and gold-plate its interior doors were also considered during the conference. These proposals will be finalized after more conversations.

In four months since the renovation project started on December 17, 2024, a total of 193 hours and 5 minutes of work have been finished. In four months since the renovation project started on December 17, 2024, a total of 193 hours and 5 minutes of work have been finished.
