Responsible Citizens, Dhenkanal concern for better health care facilities in Dhenkanal, holds virtual meet and pull out suggestions.

Dhenkanal: It is often said that ‘Health is wealth.’ Every government should provide affordable and accessible health care facilities to all its citizens who have the fundamental rights to receive it. But it is often alleged that the health care facilities available in Dhenkanal is in a devastating state.

The public are deprived of better health care facilities here, the hospitals lack doctors and staffs. Keeping this in view “Responsible Citizens, Dhenkanal” a WhatsApp group has been created involving people who love their motherland. Enlightened citizens, social workers, intellectuals etc. organized an online virtual meet to discuss the problems and pull out solutions and suggestions from the responsible citizens of the district. The discussion was carried out on the topic “The Duty and Responsibility of citizens in bringing betterment of health care facilities in our Dhenkanal.” It was decided to handover an enclosed copy of the suggestions and solutions discussed in the meeting to district administration and state government requesting them to approve the following suggestions in-order to provide a robust health care facility in the district. The following suggestions are listed below,

All the elected representatives, social organizations and district administration were thanked as the number of beds augmented to 300 from 176 in the district headquarters hospital, Dhenkanal. All the infrastructure needs should be fulfilled to make it a Medical college, but its administration approval, financial approval, specialized doctors, paramedical staffs, nurses, technicians should be appointed soon. All the testing equipments, laboratories, advanced diagnostic centre should be established. MRI, CT scan, ultra sound should be organized and available properly.

Doctors are considered second God, to get better and efficient service from them, serving mindset training of doctors should be done. Bio-metric system should be used too.

To increase the serving mindset of nurses, assistants and security guards, inspirational trainings should be organized.

Appointment of MBBS doctors in place of Ayush doctors in all the PHC’s and CHC’s situated in all the blocks of the district, filing the vacant post of nurses and assistants, so that rural people will enable better health care facility, which will help to reducing the pressure on DHH due to referral of patients.

From taking effective step from administration to financial clearance, providing needed human resource and machineries to make the Ayush hospital fully functional which in under-construction at Mahisapat.

Providing better health care facilities and service at the Covid care center situated at Bajichowk and implementing of the proposal of setting a branch of Acharya Harihar Regional Cancer Centre using the unused buildings there is on board.

Opening a help desk at the DHH hospital for the senior citizens and providing assistant there for help.

Setting up a Tele medicine service at the DHH, so that patients can take advice for experts through telephone from their home.

Different experts from different department from other hospitals should be invited on certain dates which can encourage health care service mindset here, the expenditure of their travel can be used from the patient welfare fund and district mining fund.

Under the “Niramaya” scheme sufficient amount of medicine should be available in DHH hospital and the in all the PHC’s and CHC’s.

A team should be formed consisting social workers from different social organization of the district and members of Patient welfare Samiti who will visit the DHH and rural PHC’s and CHC’s in regular time intervals and would put forward suggestions to the district health care administration for providing better health care service.

Number of doctors should increase in the emergency department and the working skills of nightshift assistant and security guards should be developed.

Health awareness and remedies are the cure for the disease; camps should be arranged in rural PHC’s and CHC’s where medicine and testing should be done for high blood pressure, diabetics and kidney ailments related to our lifestyle.

Special attention should be given to the cleanliness inside the hospital premises and also in the town areas, timely sanitization should be done. Also making citizens aware about the same to bring betterment in cleanliness should be done.

Be vigilant and well prepared for the possible third wave of the covid-19 pandemic. Phase wise and disciplined vaccinations should be arranged. Special beds should be made available for children. IT was determined that  District administration should take this matter in priority basis and enable better health care facilities to the people.
