Robotic Intervention In Mining Operations At Odisha’s Mahanadi Coalfields

Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) computed a new feature for its cap by inventing a robotic invasion in mining operations. This new feature will help to limit dust pollution and conflict fire.

As known as “Robotic Nozzle,” MCL has successfully tested the remotely controlled mechanized swivel nozzle. This will make the mining operations more reliable, environment- friendly, and useful. MCL previously has also invented many other series of innovations that had helped the mining operations successful. The “Robotic Nozzle” comes with variable cone mist and straight throws capacity deal with fire and dust suppression. This will also help in fire fighting operations in the coal mines and adequate dust suppression.

The system visualized by CMD BN Shukla has been modified in 28 KL water tanker at Lakhanpur OCP as designed and combined by Manager, E&M/Innovation Cell, YK Singha under the supervision of HoD (Innovation Cell) AK Pandey and coordinated with the excavation team of area and headquarters led by GM (Excavation) AK Satpathi.

The “Roboctic Nozzle” is an entirely remotely controlled system that will operate from a long and safe distance. The system can also throw mist covering the 360-degree horizontal pan and 180-degree vertical pitch.

Apart from these, two more systems will be altered at Basundhara OCP in the Sundargarh district and Lingaraj OCP, Talcher in Angul district. Because of the  COVID-19 virus, MCL’s fog canons have also been adequately sanitized to aid district administration.
