Train services were disrupted on Wednesday afternoon after a portion of the ceiling on Platform 1 at Cuttack Railway Station fell during ongoing renovations. Platforms 1 and 2 had delays as a result of debris from the collapse blocking the railroad rails.
An ancient wall next to the station collapsed about 3:45 p.m., according to the East Coast Railway (ECoR). The reconstruction work was being carried out with all the safety procedures in place, according to confirmation from the railway authorities. Thankfully, there have been no reports of casualties or injuries. Railway lines were supposed to be removed in 45 minutes, and restoration work started right away.
Passengers were reassured by ECoR authorities that plans are in motion to quickly return to regular operations.
