Internationally recognized spiritual teacher Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev had to undergo brain surgery on Sunday due to a “life-threatening” medical emergency, as reported by Isha Foundation. The non-profit spiritual organisation that was created by Sadhguru claims that its 66-year-old head is on the mend and that his health is stable.
“Sadhguru experienced a potentially fatal medical event recently. According to a statement from the Isha Foundation, “He is currently recovering well.” Sadhguru was admitted to the hospital for a severe headache after suffering many brain hemorrhages. On March 17, when his health deteriorated, medical professionals at Delhi’s Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals carried out emergency surgery to stop the cranial hemorrhage.
“Sadhguru had a terrible headache for the previous four weeks. When he arrived in Delhi in the afternoon of March 14, 2024, the headache had gotten really bad. At 430 pm on the same day, Sadhguru had an urgent MRI, which showed a large brain bleed. Both new bleeding that had started within the preceding 24 to 48 hours of the examination and signs of a chronic bleed that had been continuous for the previous three to four weeks were present, according to the statement.
Despite worsening situation, Sadhguru continued with his schedule, Isha Foundation said.
“On March 17, 2024, Sadhguru’s neurological status rapidly worsened along with weakness of the left leg and marked worsening of headache with recurrent vomiting… He underwent an emergency brain surgery within a few hours of admission to relieve the bleeding in the skull,” the statement added. Dr Vinit Suri, the lead the surgeon, informed that Sadhguru has shown steady progress, and his brain, body, and vital parameters have improved to normal levels.
