BHUBANEAWAR: Dharmendra, a senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the 1989-batch from the Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territory (AGMUT) cadre, has been appointed as the Chief Secretary of Delhi. The announcement was made by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs on Saturday.
According to the official order, Dharmendra, who is currently serving as the Chief Secretary of Arunachal Pradesh, will assume his new role as Chief Secretary of Delhi starting September 1, 2024, or from the date he joins the office, whichever comes later.

Dharmendra’s appointment comes as Naresh Kumar, the current Chief Secretary of Delhi, completes his tenure today, August 31, 2024. Kumar, who has served in the role with distinction, was granted two extensions by the Central Government during his tenure.
Dharmendra’s transition marks a significant change in the administrative leadership of Delhi, with expectations high for his contributions to the governance and administration of the national capital.
