SRC Reviews Rain Situation Across Odisha, Instructs DMs To Take Precautionary Measures

Satyabrata Sahu, the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC), evaluated the situation in Odisha as a result of the ongoing, severe rains on Wednesday.

The Angul, Balasore, Bargarh, Boudh, Bhadrak, Bolangir, Dhenkanal, Gajapati, Jajpur, Jharsuguda, Kandhamal, Keonjhar, Kalahandi, Mayurbhanj, Nuapada, Subarnapur, and Sambalpur District Collectors and the SRC discussed the issue. He has instructed the Collectors to take the necessary precautions and keep all field-level employees in places that are likely to experience water logging or low-lying regions in order to prepare for any scenario. He emphasized getting people out of flooded regions and giving them refuge in secure locations.

The SRC ordered that dry/cooked food and drinking water be given to those impacted by the disaster. He insisted that DHH, CHCs, and PHCs must have sufficient anti-snake venom on hand. If necessary, the local Fire Services teams and ULB authorities will take action to dewater the area and remove any uprooted trees.

If necessary owing to excessive rain, the Collectors are free to determine whether to close schools and Anganwadi Centers. On flooded highways, vehicular traffic must be carefully controlled.

The director general of fire and emergency services has been asked to send teams for search and rescue operations to Boudh, Mayurbhanj, Sonepur, Angul, Bolangir, Kandhamal, Sambalpur, Jajpur, and Bhadrak.
