Saroj Kumar Samal was named as the department’s director of information and public relations by the state government on Tuesday. Prior to this position, Samal (IAS (SCS- 2012)) served as the Collector of Jharsuguda. The General Administration & Pension Grievance (GA & PG) Department declared in a notification that the position of Director, I&PR is similar to that of Joint Secretary in the State’s IAS cadre in terms of status and responsibilities.
On the other side, ST&SC Development, Minorities & Backward Classes Welfare Department has selected Indramani Tripathy (IAS (SCS – 2011)), the current Director of the I&PR Department, as its Additional Secretary. The notice indicated that Tripathy is permitted to continue serving as Director of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Research and Training Institute (SCSTRTI).
