A nationwide Swachhata Abhiyan (Cleanliness Drive) was undertaken on Sunday as part of the ongoing “Odia Pakhya” celebrations, which are being commemorated for the first time throughout Odisha from April 1 to April 14. Temples, historical sites, and popular tourist destinations in different districts served as the focal points of the cleaning drive. Promoting cleanliness at these culturally significant sites was the main objective in order to provide a hygienic and visually appealing environment for both residents and tourists.
District and block-level administrations, members from the municipal and panchayati raj, youth organizations, volunteer organizations, local people, and public representatives all enthusiastically participated in the initiative, which covered all blocks and districts. They worked together to clean the temple grounds, local shrines, and famous historical monuments.
Along with the practical cleaning tasks, participants raised awareness of the value of preserving hygienic conditions and cleanliness in public areas. By posting images of the Swachhata Abhiyan on the official Odia Pakhya website, they also expressed their happiness and sense of involvement in this special cultural event. The advertising was well-received and reminded people that civic responsibilities and cultural pride go hand in hand. It underlined the need of a sustainable and clean environment in addition to showcasing Odisha’s magnificent customs.
