Subhadra Yojana Reaches 1.64 Cr Beneficiaries, Empowering Women Across Odisha

Over 1.64 crore women in the state have benefited from the Odisha government’s major women’s welfare program, “Subhadra Yojana,” which has achieved a noteworthy milestone. The state’s commitment to women’s empowerment and financial independence has been strengthened with the payout of the fifth phase of the first installment today, bringing the total amount of financial aid under the plan to over Rs. 5,032 crore.

Through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, who oversaw the virtual disbursement event from the Women and Child Development Department conference hall, sent Rs. 5,000 to over 2.34 lakh beneficiaries, totaling over Rs. 1,170 crore. Speaking to the public on YouTube Live, she encouraged all women to celebrate this achievement by lighting lights at home on March 7, 2025, especially Subhadra recipients, mothers, and sisters.

Transforming Women’s Lives Across Odisha

Launched in Bhubaneswar by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Subhadra Yojana has been implemented in multiple phases:

First phase: 25.29 lakh women benefited in Bhubaneswar.

Second phase: 35 lakh women received financial aid in Baripada, Mayurbhanj.

Third phase: 20 lakh women benefited in Sundargarh.

Fourth phase: Over 18 lakh women received assistance.

Fifth phase: 2.34 lakh beneficiaries received Rs. 5,000 each, marking the latest step in the initiative.

With today’s disbursement, the Subhadra Yojana has now impacted 1.64 crore women, providing them with financial support to enhance their livelihoods.

Special Recognition for Anganwadi Workers

Recognizing the contributions of Anganwadi workers and helpers in implementing the Subhadra Yojana, Deputy Chief Minister Parida announced a special incentive:

Rs. 1,500 for each Anganwadi worker

Rs. 500 for each Anganwadi helper

The state government will allocate over Rs. 14 crore for this incentive, acknowledging the frontline workers’ role in executing this transformational scheme.
