This year, the 35th Konark Dance and Music Festival has been inaugurated at Guru Gangadhar Pradhan Natya Mandap Konark. It was inaugurated by Padma Shri Raghunath Mohapatra. Among the other guests present at the inaugural function were Nalco General Manager Ashutosh Rath and Guru Manoranjan Pradhan, Puri District Professional Journalists Association President Tribhikram Ramakrishna Mohapatra, Chakradhar Sahoo of Utkal Cultural University Painting Department.
This year, the festival ended in one day instead of three days due to Covid 19 pandemic. In a three-round dance and music festival today, the guests first performed on the stage after the lighting of the lamps, and the artists performed the Panchadev hymns composed by Guru Gangadhar Pradhan after the bell rang. Later, classical music and Odissi and Kathak enchanted the audience. In the first round, Odissi music was performed by Guru Shri Nimakant Rautaray. In the second round, Shiv Nirjana Ho Shambhu, Bajrakanti Pallavi of Odissi dance and Yuge Yuga Jagannath of Odissi dance were performed by Devdasi Dance Academy.
In the last phase, Kathak dance was performed by the Ghungur Dance Academy of Calcutta. The 35th Konark Literary Festival was held at Natya Mandap. Many writers attended the literary festival and a seminar on Oriya language literature was held. The dancer, on the other hand, said they were excited to have the opportunity to perform on stage again after a long hiatus. The audience said they enjoyed dancing and music at the festival, which was held at the Natya Mandap. On the other hand, the chief guest, Padma Shri Raghunath Mohapatra, said that students of Guru Gangadhar Pradhan had made a name for themselves across the country, narrating the story of Natya Mandap and praising Guru Gangadhar Pradhan. Guru Pad Baliyar Singh, Joint Secretary, Natya Mandap, thanked everyone for the successful completion of the festival.
