Arun Kumar Biswal’s early years were steeped in simplicity, yet they were filled with big dreams. Inspired by visiting engineers who came to his village, young Arun aspired to become an engineer himself. This aspiration guided his educational journey as he completed his secondary education at Alanahat High School in 1981. With determination as his constant companion, he moved to Madras, now Chennai, to pursue a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering, successfully graduating in 1988. This academic achievement was not just the fulfillment of a personal dream but the first milestone in a career that would leave a lasting impact on the power sector and beyond.
After completing his engineering studies, Biswal entered the professional world, gaining valuable experience working with organizations specializing in the construction and maintenance of infrastructure within the power sector. These formative years sharpened his technical skills, taught him the importance of precision and discipline, and instilled in him a keen understanding of client management. These lessons would later become the pillars upon which he built his entrepreneurial journey.
In the year 2000, armed with little more than an unwavering belief in his abilities and a modest working capital of just Rs. 4000, Er. Arun Kumar Biswal laid the foundation of M/s Abhisek Construction. Starting small, he focused on executing projects with impeccable quality and building a reputation based on trust and excellence. His clear vision and relentless pursuit of growth turned the fledgling venture into a formidable force. Over time, the company evolved into M/s Abhisek Contech India Private Limited, specializing in the construction, commissioning, and maintenance of Extra High Voltage (EHV) transmission lines and substations up to 400 KV. The company also expanded its services to include operation and maintenance, pre-commissioning testing activities, and emergency restoration solutions.
Today, Abhisek Contech India Private Limited stands tall with an annual turnover of approximately ₹100 crore and a workforce exceeding 300 dedicated employees. The company is recognized for its expertise in delivering complex electrical infrastructure projects across Odisha and other parts of India. Its reputation as a trusted partner in both public and private sectors is a direct reflection of Arun Kumar Biswal’s leadership and the culture of excellence he cultivated.

While professional achievements could have been enough for many, Arun Kumar Biswal’s ambitions extended beyond corporate success. He founded Siddhi Binayak Science College in Angul, offering quality residential education for the past seventeen years. His vision was to create an institution where young minds, especially from rural backgrounds, could access opportunities that would enable them to shape better futures for themselves.
Complementing his efforts in education, he established the Abhisek Educational and Charitable Trust. Through the Trust, Biswal has provided free education to underprivileged children and implemented skill development programs to equip youth with the tools needed for self-employment. These initiatives have empowered countless individuals, giving them the means to break the cycle of poverty and build dignified lives.
The remarkable contributions of Er. Arun Kumar Biswal have been widely recognized. He received the Priyadarshani Award for his contribution to women’s development and the Excellence Award at the National Council and State Convention in 2010. Two years later, he was honored with the Young Entrepreneur Award at the National Achievers Meet. His work in skill development was celebrated with the Odisha Prativa Samman on World Skill Day in 2018. That same year, he was awarded the prestigious Mahatma Gandhi Samman at the House of Commons in London, in the presence of esteemed leaders such as ex-Prime Minister of India, Shri H.D. Deve Gowda.
