To stop black marketing, Food Supply & Consumer Welfare Department issues a toll-free number

With Cyclone Dana predicted to make landfall between Bhitarkanika National Forest and Dhamra Port between Thursday night and Friday early, prices of basic goods have skyrocketed in Bhubaneswar and the surrounding areas. The Consumer Welfare Department has launched a toll-free number for customers to file complaints against dishonest dealers and black marketers in response to complaints over the sharp rise in the costs of necessities, particularly vegetables. The Food Supply and Consumer Welfare Department’s toll-free number is 0674-2396227.

According to Food Supply and Consumer Welfare Minister Krishna Chandra Patra, consumers can file concerns by calling this toll-free number. According to the minister, the dealers will face consequences for the complaint. A central unit has also been established to handle the people’s complaints. The department works hard to make sure that customers receive a variety of necessities.

Vegetable prices have soared since word of Cyclone Dana’s approach circulated. Onions are being sold for Rs 80, while potatoes have reached Rs 50, which has a significant negative impact on customers.
