Dilip Kumar Bisoi, State Information Commissioner & Ex Journalist
Dilip Kumar Bisoi recently took oath as the State Information Commissioner. Bisoi has been a veteran journalist working with newspapers of huge import such as The Indian Express and The Financial Express. He commenced his career in journalism with Odia vernacular behemoth Sambad. He has also served as the Consulting Editor of MBC TV besides editing another Odia daily The Samaya.
Presently, he helms a news portal- IndiaWhispers.com. Besides Odisha, Bisoi has worked in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Punjab. In Punjab, he was felicitated with the ‘Punjab Journalists Association Award’ for his intrepid reporting during the Khalistan movement. He has also been conferred the ‘Hall of Fame Chanakya Award’ for the Best Business Journalist Award by the Public Relations Council of India.
An active commentator of political and economic issues, Bisoi has contributed research papers at various national and international forums and seminars. He has authored a book – Public Debt in Odisha.
He has held an array of government offices and other positions- Member of the Odisha government’s labour department committee on Wage Board, Member of the state commerce & transport department committee on Road Safety, Jury Member of the Panchayati Raj Department award for Best Rural Local Bodies, Jury Member of the IMFA Group’s Sambhavi Award for social changers, Director of Odisha Tourism Development Corporation (OTDC) and Board Member of Capital Hospital, Bhubaneswar.
Bisoi has been a visiting faculty to media institutes within Odisha- Utkal University, KIIT University and Academy of Management & Information Technology (AMIT), Bhubaneswar.
