The current secretary, Manoj Ahuja, was repatriated to his parent cadre by the Center on Tuesday, meaning that the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare will have a new secretary. To this end, the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) issued an order.
“The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the repatriation of Manoj Ahuja, IAS (OR:90), Secretary, Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare to his parent cadre on the request of the Government of Odisha,” read the DoPT order.
In February 2022, Manoj Ahuja, an Odisha cadre IAS officer from 1990, was appointed as OSD for the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. On March 31, 2022, he assumed the position of Secretary at the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. Ahuja is probably going to be announced as Odisha’s next chief secretary, according to sources.
The return of Ahuja to his native country comes at the request of the recently established BJP administration in Odisha, marking the first significant bureaucratic change in the Agriculture Ministry since the appointment of Shivraj Singh Chouhan as the new Minister earlier this month.
