Actress Vidya Balan, TV and film producer Ekta Kapoor and her mother, Shobha Kapoor who is the joint owner of the production house Balaji Telefilms have been invited by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to join the US-based prestigious film body as new members.
According to the official reports, the three Indian names were revealed in a list of 395 new members from across 50 countries invited by the Academy to join the “Class Of 2021”. Because of their excellent performance in her movies like ‘Kahaani’ and ‘Tumhari Sulu’, Vidya Balan has been recognised by the Academy. She also won the National Film Award for Best Actress for her performance in the 2011 movie ‘The Dirty Picture.


Producers Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor were recognized by the Academy for backing films such as ‘Dream Girl’, ‘Once Upon a Time In Mumbai’, ‘Udta Punjab’ and ‘The Dirty Picture.
Last year, Bollywood stars Alia Bhatt and Hrithik Roshan were invited to become new members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
