Between Meramandali and Budhapank in the Dhenkanal-Angul Railway Section of Odisha, stones were thrown at the train, causing damage to the windowpane of an Executive Class coach of the Rourkela-Bhubaneswar Vande Bharat Express. The incident was reported by the on-duty Railway Protection Force (RPF) escorting staff, according to East Coast Railway (ECoR). “The ECoR security wing has reported it to the Government Railway Police (GRP) and RPF, taking it seriously.” The statement read, “RPF’s Assistant Security Commissioner from Cuttack has been hurried to the scene.”
The situation has also been reported to the local police. “Those who pelt stones will face severe consequences.” To find the offenders, the ECoR’s security wing and local police are working together,” the statement continued. According to the ECoR, reports of comparable incidents have also come from other regions of the nation. But thus far, no passengers have suffered any injuries.
Indian Railways, in particular the East Coast Railway, are constantly urging the public to refrain from throwing stones at trains because doing so could endanger the lives of onlookers.
