Around 111 blocks in 20 districts of Odisha have been badly affected by the heavy rain as per a preliminary report by the office of the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC).
The report by the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) further stated that around 3696 villages and 27 urban local bodies (ULBs) have been affected due to the heavy rain and four persons including two from Kendrapada and one each from Khurda and Ganjam lost their lives. Further, 20,46,022 people have been affected due to the rain which caused devastation in the state.
The report further added that around 2870 houses have been damaged. And the district administrations have evacuated 13,534 people from the low-lying areas, but there is no trace of a person from the Nischintkoili block in Cuttack district who was swept away by the swirling floodwaters on September 12.
In Jagatsinghpur district around 11, around 36,971 people of 1321 villages have been affected while around 7,79,241 people in Kendrapada, 48457 in Dhenkanal, 21,596 in Cuttack and 21,525 in Jajpur have also been affected.
