12-Hour Bandh In Several Districts Of Odisha Over Mamita Meher Murder Case

Over the murder case of Mahalinga Sunshine Public School teacher Mamita Meher, a 12-hour strike has been announced by Odisha Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Boudh, Balasore, Kendrapara and Jagatsinghpur districts on October 30, while a six-hour strike in Bhadrak.

According to the official reports, BJP has demanded an investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and for the capital punishment of hanging till death, as given under Section 354(5) of the Criminal Code of Procedure 1973, of the prime accused Govinda Sahu.

The report further added that the bandh will be effective from 6 am to 6 pm. This will affect the vehicular movement on main roads all the shops will remain closed. While the trains have stopped at several stations in these districts

Mamita Meher’s father Suchandra Meher has alleged that Govinda had asked the clerk of his college to write the missing report of Mamita and made him sign the FIR. Unfortunately, Suchandra did not read the FIR while signing on it. After writing the missing complaint, Suchandra and his family members went to Kegaon Police Station to hand over the complaint to the police. However, Govinda Sahu rushed to the police station before their arrival but the Officer-In-Charge did not receive the missing complaint. He said them to rather file the FIR copy at Turekela Police Station.
