CM Naveen Patnaik Raises Demands For Second AIIMS At Sundergarh,

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik threw light on the establishment of Odisha’s second All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in the tribal-dominated Sundergarh district

According to the reports, CM Patnaik raised the demand before Pralhad Joshi, Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Coal & Mines. Further, the State Government also demanded the operationalization of the integrated campus for a 500-bed hospital and 100 seats medical college at Sundergarh which has already been completed by the NTPC.

CM Patnaik stated that while considering Sundergarh’s contribution in providing Energy Security to the country and to the national development in terms of steel and iron ore production, the Government of India should come forward to fulfil the long-standing demands of the people of this tribal-dominated district for an AIIMS.

He further requested Pralhad Joshi for the primary functioning of MCL Medical College & Hospital at Talcher where infrastructure is ready for a long. The 500 bed and 100 seats Medical College and Hospital will benefit largely the people of Dhenkanal and Angul districts.

Even CM Patnaik also raised the issue of ‘Clean Energy Cess’ and further demanded a 60 per cent share of the cess collected from the State. He stated that 60 per cent of the cess will give Odisha an amount of Rs 30,000 crore which can be utilized for the economic development of coal mining areas and the affected people. In addition, it will hasten Odisha’s development in the aftermath of the pandemic situation.
