150+ people dead due to bridge collapse in Morbi, Gujarat

A British-era bridge in Gujarat’s Morbi collapsed last night, killing at least 150 people. Teams are looking for numerous other missing people in addition to the 177 who have already been saved.The suspension bridge had about 500 people on it when its supporting cables broke, sending people plummeting into the river below, including women and children.

As many individuals are suspected to have perished in the 10 feet of water, several teams from the NDRF and members of the Navy and Air Force have been ordered to be airlifted to the scene to aid in the rescue attempts and search the riverbed.PM Modi visiting Morbi today is also a possibility, according to The Hindu’s sources.
