Odisha Chief Secretary Anu Garg presided over a secretary-level conference here on Tuesday that examined twenty-five significant development projects in the Nayagada district, with a focus on improving connectivity, infrastructure, tourism, healthcare, education, and livelihoods. Madhumita Rath, the Nayagada District Collector, who participated virtually in the conference, gave a roadmap for carrying out the projects under the “Bikash Pathe Nayagada” initiative, which aims to make the district more prosperous in accordance with the goals of Viksit Odisha 2036 and Viksit Bharat 2047.
Roads, railroad connectivity, drinking water, power, healthcare, tourism, heritage conservation, irrigation, industry, and job creation are just a few of the sectors covered by the projects. Deoranjan Kumar Singh, the Development Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary, was present at the meeting, which was held in the Kharavela Bhawan conference hall along with Additional Chief Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, and Secretaries of several departments.
Rath described ways to enhance the district’s fundamental infrastructure and connectivity while highlighting the status of current and planned initiatives. The Khordha-Nayagada National Highway was upgraded, the Khordha-Balangir railroad line was completed, a helipad was built at Bhapur, mobile and internet connectivity was expanded throughout the district, traffic management systems were improved, and everyone was given access to drinking water.
Several projects aimed at strengthening healthcare, education and sports infrastructure were also discussed, including electricity grid substations at Dashapalla and Khandapada, a homeopathic college at Nayagada, a medical centre at Dashapalla and a hockey stadium at Ranpur. The meeting also reviewed plans to boost tourism in the district. The proposals include developing the Neelamadhaba Temple as a world-class tourist destination, developing the Mahanadi riverfront at Kantilo, improving Kuansaria Garden and developing Kaliapalli village as a heritage tourism destination.
