Up to 300 opera (jatra) performers joined the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) formally today at Sankha Bhawan, the party’s headquarters. Prominent opera singers such as Daitari Panda, head of “Odisha Jatra Kalakar O Karmachari Sangh,” Bapi Panda, Chaitanya Paika, Ramesh Nayak, Subash Behera, Hrushikesh Mishra, and Sibaram Panda are among those who joined the BJD.
With the general elections round the corner, these artistes who have a large fan following are expected to reap rich dividends for the party.
