Around 318 Atal Tinkering Laboratories (ATLs) have been established in Odisha. More than three lakh students are actively engaged in ATL of beneficiary Odisha, said the reply of the Ministry of Planning Lok Sabha on Wednesday.
According to the reports, under the Government’s Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), ATLs are being set up in schools across the country with a view to developing one million children in India into neoteric innovators. These labs aim to foster curiosity, creativity, and imagination in students and develop skills such as design mindset, computational thinking, adaptive learning, physical computing, rapid calculation, and measurement.
Rao Indrajito Lion, Federation The Planning Minister told the Lok Sabha that so far 9,606 ATLs have been established in the country. More than 75 lakh students are actively engaged in these laboratories in India. He said that the government gives a grant of Rs 20 lakh to each school as establishment and operation costs over a period of five years.
A total of 318 schools in Odisha have been disbursed Rs 12 lakh as the first installment, while an amount of Rs 2 lakh has been distributed to 26 schools in the state as the subsequent installment.
Odisha’s 571 schools have been selected to set up ATL, Out of these selected applications from Odisha, 318 have so far been funded for setting up of ATLs.
